Cambridge Manor Senior Apartments, Chicago, IL

Located in Bronzeville, Cambridge Manor is an existing 27-story senior high rise, constructed in 1970 and consisting of 309 studio and 1-bedroom  units. The current rehabilitation plan and scope will focus on the upgrading of units including new kitchens and bathrooms; upgrading lighting and finishes in residential hallways; mezzanine level community room renovation; and extensive mechanical, electrical and plumbing work throughout. Units will receive accessibility and universal design upgrades developed in conjunction with MOPD and HUD. Additionally, a percentage of existing studio apartments will be converted to 1-bedroom apartments to meet the needs of the current local senior market.

This substantial rehabilitation project is HUD financed, and will also receive a C.E.D.A. grant for new high-efficiency boilers for the building.
