LBBA was invited to work with Holabird & Root to provide the interior design and furnishings for the new Kistle Science Library at Grinnell College. The idea was to provide a spirited design with a warm palate of materials. We believed a more technical student body would appreciate a relatively complex yet understandable system of sliding planes and components that are flexible enough to fit in the relatively narrow spaces provided. Durable plywood, fin form, and laminates along with ambient and task lighting make the space comfortable, sustainable and easy to maintain.
