Heiwa Terrace, Chicago, IL

Located in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, Heiwa Terrace is a 204-unit residential development that provides subsidized housing for seniors and disabled persons. This project included substantial renovations and reconfigurations to the existing structure, making the residential units, common areas, and offices bright and contemporary. Most of the ground floor was reconfigured to provide better circulation, more natural light, and dynamic spaces that appeal to residents.

In addition to new window systems, updates to the mechanical systems, roof repair, and repairs to the building envelope, extensive renovations were made throughout the ground floor to increase office capacity and efficiency of space. The residential units now feature open floor plans, allow for more light, and offer updated finishes.

With this new design, the ground level now better connects to the newly landscaped garden, outdoor seating areas, and parking.
