Inspiration Square Tiny Homes, Chicago, IL

Thresholds and Easter Seals have teamed with Brinshore Development to build a mixed-income residential development at Damen & 14th Street in the Illinois Medical District. “Tiny Home Village” will be a unique campus that integrates housing for people with disabilities (developmental, physical and mental), veterans, people at risk of homelessness, CHA eligible households and workers from the surrounding medical district. The development will include a variety of building and apartment types including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments in a newly constructed elevator building and tiny detached houses.

Thresholds and Easterseals will provide on-site supportive services. There will be a variety of features and amenities on-site that further support and enrich the experience of the Tiny Home Village residents, including: an urban farm, community gardens and fruit orchard complete with a tool shed and farm stand; case management offices and meeting rooms; library and media room; demonstration kitchen to promote healthy eating; community room for resident use and scheduled programs; 24-hour security; visitor’s lounge; fitness center; business center; on-site parking; bike storage and repair; outdoor seating with fireplace and movie theater; on-site property management; meditation garden; laundry facilities; storage rooms and more. The gardens and farm will be managed by Julie Tracey Foundation/Urban Autism Solutions which operates a similar farm nearby.

Tiny Home Village will be built on land owned by the Illinois Medical District and will be subject to a long term ground lease. The development will be developed and owned by a joint venture partnership between Brinshore Development and Thresholds.
