SkyART, Chicago, IL

SkyART, formerly the South Chicago Art Center, serves as a safe haven for youth to expand their artistic talents, build meaningful relationships, foster leadership development, and grow into resilient and responsible civic-minded citizens. In pursuing this mission, the organization needed a larger, more centrally located space in the South Chicago neighborhood. This expansion of space and programs allows more young people access to cultural programs that will shape their behavior, skills, ideas, and confidence.

The new center brings new life to an abandoned building—previously 'Ellis Cleaners'—at the corner of 91st Street and Houston Avenue. The new facility continues an “open door” philosophy that encourages community youth to participate. By revitalizing this space, SkyART aims to attract other important institutions and centers to the neighborhood.
