Tiny House Community, Chicago, IL

Tiny Houses are a new typology for increasing density by finding new uses for underutilized city property. Landon Bone Baker has designed these Tiny Houses to fit multiple houses on each lot in order to respond to the high demand of small affordable units. The Tiny Houses are combined to create a small community, focused around common uses such as urban gardens and farms. A small common building is part of the community, which houses a shared kitchen and flexible meeting and work space for the Tiny House community and neighborhood at large. Onsite parking is reduced and incorporates- car sharing programs. The proposal includes secure bike parking.
