Uptown Preservation Phase 2, Chicago, IL

The second phase of the Uptown Preservation Apartments Rehab included the moderate rehab of two existing apartment buildings from the early 1930s, composed of 26 affordable rental units ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms. Last rehabbed in the 1990’s, the two buildings required moderate repair, but the focus was on bringing the building up to code while addressing long term improvements. These included securing the building envelope, updating kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, replacing all kitchen and bathroom appliances with energy-efficient appliances in each unit, and renovating all common areas of each building. Other improvements included complete roof replacements of both buildings and the addition of a community room on the basement level of 847 W Sunnyside.
