West Humboldt Place, Chicago, IL

The Children’s Place Association’s West Humboldt Place is a mid-rise rental building that provides subsidized apartments for low-income families in which at least one member (head of household) has a disability. The building includes onsite supportive services and space for resident activities.

The building’s first floor is the hub for the agency’s expanding Family and Community Services (FCS) program. In addition to the tenants living in the building’s 13 apartments, 200+ children and parents from the community are served by FCS. The site provides families with direct on-site services – including case management, mental health counseling, support groups, youth recreation and HIV/AIDS prevention – as well as connecting them to other organizations that offer health care, education, job training, financial literacy training and legal services.
